The Chinese Dancer
The Chinese Dancer was a character made for The Nutcracker Ballet. Designed and made by myself. This costume was made for the Eighteenth century period and structured entirely for Ballet. Inspiration taken from my findings while travelling in China. This Character I portrayed as naughty and childish with elements of sophistication embedded into the Chinese culture.

Patterns and colour palette inspired from my trip to the far East. The skirt has a mix of pleating, appliqué and hand stitching/beading. Under the large parts of the skirt are pocket hoops to crete the period look.
